The fintech industry is a relatively small community within the larger sphere of financial services and banking, and new players are emerging on the scene at an accelerating clip as greater availability of venture capital and financing is extended to entrepreneurs. This is especially the case in the United States, where regulatory environments are adapting to an influx of tech-savvy alternative financing firms. Canadian fintech firms have an obligation to assert themselves in this growing market, becoming positioned as leaders of innovation in the wider North American context.
It was with this goal in mind that Merchant Advance Capital – along with representatives from our sister company in the personal loans space, Progressa – visited the LendIt Conference in San Francisco this week! We had the opportunity to meet and network with a wide variety of industry peers, to represent the Canadian financial technology sector, and to learn a great deal about the trends and opinions shaping the evolution of our industry.
